Equity through Auslan: effective communication in every area of life.
Sign Language Communications (SLC) is the longest running Auslan/English interpreting service in Australia, with many years of experience and expertise in interpreting and working with the Deaf Community.
SLC are committed to the on-going development of the Deaf Community and have established a policy of ensuring that all profits generated are reinvested back into services which benefit the Deaf Community.
In NSW and the ACT, SLC’s state branch provides a professional and innovative interpreting and notetaking service in a range of settings where deaf, hard of hearing and deafblind people as well as hearing people are able to communicate effectively with each other.
In addition we provide deaf interpreters for deaf and deafblind people who require additional communication support.
We can provide services for you either on-site or remotely via Video Conferencing Technology (Video Remote Interpreting).
We provide interpreters and notetakers in the following settings and more:
- Job interviews
- Vocational training
- Education (university courses, parent/teacher interviews)
- Staff meetings
- Theatre and the arts
- Public events
- In the media
- Legal settings including court and police settings
- Some medical settings where required
We use Interpreters who are NAATI registered (National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters), and in addition we have established close partnership working with Australian Sign Language Interpreters Association NSW (ASLIA NSW).
